Without State Power, There Is No Rare Earth Power: Washington’s Moment of Truth

So- what Washington (read: Trump) needs to do to solve this in the shortest time possible is to invest heavily in the proven methods of conventional solvent extraction first and foremost, coupled with commensurate investment in alternative potential promising shortcuts ( there are several but too early to pick a winner; there may be several given the options of different ore bodies, recycling and reclamation of tailings,etc), cooperate/fund research at the university level, encourage a workforce by funding scholarships and job placement for commitments to the industry, and perhaps lastly- underwrite stateside mining with accelerated permitting.

We did this before once upon a time, folks. I think they called it the Manhattan Project
 
Accepting that the US is no longer going to be using Chinese produced Magnets. Those responsible for 'Qualification' will already looking at the 'New' sources that are/will be available, they already have their procedures and systems in place. So, the only thing likely to delay the 'Qualification' process will be Magnet makers ability to achieve QA/QC, something VAC has been doing for years.
