Heavy Rare Earth Element Deposits in Europe

Good luck getting permits in Europe! It has been thoroughly settled for over 2000 years. There will be an old castle of historic significance on top. Or, if untouched by human hands, will be deemed pristine. Either way, permitting is inconceivable outside existing mining districts such as Silesia or Huelva in Spain. Look at the trouble RIO is having with its Jadar Lithium deposit in Serbia!

This is before any exploration such as drilling to even examine whether an orebody is worthwhile.

Europe's industrial base is seriously, seriously exposed - cant sell a Mercedes without windscreen wipers. Government(s) know and have no path forward, hence the sombre public announcements and endless policy papers.

Mercantilist USA's short-sighted practices may well thrust Europe into Chinese dependence - a Marshall Plan in reverse.

Our practices are indeed short-sighted, we suffer from 4 year election cycle minor rudder shifts. Suddenly, the cry has gone out that the ship is about to run aground…
When all seems to be going well and the people are full of bread and circuses no one cares to hear the cry from the sentry.
Europe is a slow-boiling frog and the US is not far behind

I am confident the Australian Government will succeed. Our foreign ownership laws are laid as principles, yet have never been fleshed out with real world examples - actual court cases - to provide practice and precedent.

Matters may look glacial, yet are inching toward resolution.

I note even this small exchange has attracted a Chinese troll. What does that say about their resolve to stymie the highest grade Dy Tb deposit in Australia and arguably the best ex-China, complete with permits, proven processing engineering and off take.

Crackin me up, bro. This Kansan has never been called Chinese before!
Australia is pulling its weight, Europe is not. The US is awakening slowly as we usually do unless someone hits us directly in the head..
Believe it or not we’re on the same team, mate!
