Pensana - Presentation May 2025

@Fundamental

I remember those visits during the Biden era. But i never looked carefully. And I missed Pensana!

I do though remember at the time, the reason for the USA building the Angola relations, was to stop/slow China building the relationships with Angola and getting access to all its resources.

But from what i can see, China has really outpaced the west in terms of investment into Angola. And the situation that has transired with Peak Rare Earths could happen in Angola. Especially if the west doesn't lift its investment levels into Angola, China could, over time, exert influence.

I think that there is as much chance of China getting back into Angola as there is of a Trump/Musk reconciliation. That Angola has chosen to include the Chinese Finance Corporation as a defendant in the Solangel Dos Santos corruption case; and last week's seizure of 100 containers of Quartz destined for China, indicates that Bridges are being burnt. Also, the Billions that are now being invested by US/EU/UK in the Lobito Railway-Port and other Infrastructure projects, will provide incentive for those countries to protect their investments.

Lastly, When the Chinese were in Angola building their 'belt and roads', they clearly demonstrated that they were not 'benevolent' guests, Angola was seen as a 'hardship' posting for Chinese workers, perhaps that was why they did such a shoddy job, the Rails that they laid had to be replaced within 10 years !? Everybody now recognises B&R for what it really was, a debit trap, Angola escaped it, Tanzania did not.

Yeah that Belt and Road policy was always going to end badly! I can't believe that the Victorian Labor Govt was trying to get some of this Belt and Road in their State of Australia. I'm glad the federal Govt used their powers to squash that.

That is how Daniel Andrews (the Premier) got his nickname "Chairman Dan".....
